Still plugging away — that pun will make sense only to those who know the joy of setting up MovableType blogs — at “upgrading” this blog. Meanwhile, it’s time to get back to business by writing about the things people come here to read! Last week, Abi Sutherland sent me a link to a story […]

MovableType: Why Are Upgrades So Difficult?
September 18th, 2004 · No Comments
Well, I may be giving up on the new features of MovableType. For now, at least. This morning, I upgraded to 3.11. The goal was to get the newest functionality, including the ability to allow commenters to post without intervention by me if they were registered. Unfortunately, I cannot figure out how to integrate that […]

MovableType Upgrade: So Far, So Good
September 18th, 2004 · 2 Comments
I hope. If you have trouble reading the blog over the next day or so, please a) let me know and b) check back. I’m having to re-do my templates from scratch, apparently.

Re-Adopting the Constitution
September 17th, 2004 · 5 Comments
Today’s blog entry is meant to encourage people to understand what the Constitution was meant to be, how it has come to be used against us, and how we can put things back the way they were.
Comments are invited. It’s entirely possible to post your comments directly to the website yourself. Comments have to be “approved” by me before they are posted, but I try to adhere to the First Amendment even though I’m not a government! The only posts I have ever blocked so far involve “spam” or advertising.
It can take awhile between when you submit the comment and when it gets posted, though, if I’m away from a computer, as I will be part of today. I’m going to the law library to finish writing a legal memo. But rest assured, I’ll approve all comments either periodically by using a computer at the library, or when I get home this afternoon.

Flip-Flop, America’s Taking a Bath
September 15th, 2004 · 1 Comment
This is a busy day for me. I have a memo on plea bargaining that has to be finished for an attorney by this afternoon. Meanwhile, there are a few short articles definitely worth your time today. The first is one of those exposés of Bush’s “let’s call the kettle black” policy on how to […]

Dumb & Dumber Redux
September 15th, 2004 · 6 Comments
Yesterday, with a post about why Democrats have trouble combating the Republicans, I made disparaging remarks about the intelligence of voters. I failed to provide the proof. It was pretty much a slam dunk. There’s no nice way to say this. Dumb people like him. They think his unwavering nature is a positive personality trait. […]

It’s the Economy, Stupid
September 14th, 2004 · No Comments
It’s the Economy, Stupid? Anyone remember that line? Apparently, voters don’t. Oil shock. Recession. A market crash to rival Black Monday. That’s what Morgan Stanley chief economist Stephen Roach fears could be on the way. Donna Rosato, Paging Dr. Doom, MONEY Magazine, September 14, 2004 (last visited September 14, 2004); subscription required. What voters need […]

Dumb & Dumber

Bob Marcotte sends a link to a CBS News opinion column and says in the Subject line, “This sums it up completely.” And he’s right. So is the columnist. George W. Bush has a record the Democrats should have made mincemeat of. Right about now, the media should be writing, and American voters should be […]

Pestilence: We Can Do Better
September 14th, 2004 · 8 Comments
I often comment about how this blog itself is a microcosm of what’s going on, politically, in the United-States-at-large. Thanks particularly to one Floridian named Nat Dawson, we often get a graphic demonstration of the main reason I have trouble writing about some of the other things that interest me, instead of always writing about […]

Dog Days of Delta Theta Phi?

Click to Enlarge This weekend was a great weekend! And what better way to start it than to drive down to Maloney’s in Westwood Village to watch the University of Georgia Bulldogs lick “their” — okay, I won’t say it in front of the children and other civilized folk. But you know who they licked, […]
