Lately, I’ve been focused on researching “gangs” — a much-maligned term that covers groups both benign and, shall we say, less than benign — with a focus (naturally) on the shredding of certain constitutional rights. Oddly — because it will seem for the first few paragraphs or so as if I’m wrong — this post […]

While There Are Still Courts
April 23rd, 2005 · 8 Comments
I’m rushing to finish an appeal I’m working on… …while there are still courts. Because fundamentalist christians — they often refer to themselves as “evangelical” or “born-again” christians — are anxious to shut down those courts. OFF-TOPIC NOTICE: To those of you who read this blog and think I’m a little over the top for […]

In 1802, then-President Thomas Jefferson, famous for having written the Declaration of Independence, wrote a letter to the Danbury Baptist Association. The Danbury Baptists, a religious minority, were concerned that their religious rights were not adequately protected. They apparently wanted Jefferson to do something about it.

Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld have new claims to fame. Not just anybody can say he has a slime-mold beetle named in his honor. But George W. Bush, Dick Cheney and Donald H. Rumsfeld can. — “Bush has slime-mold beetle named after him” (April 14, 2005) CNN. Being a crawly-bug-hater, I can think of nothing more […]

I ran across an article over at TeaFizz called “The Truth”. The article was about comments recently made by former-President Jimmy Carter which are apparently causing quite a stir in some circles. Near as I can tell, it’s mostly Republicans and christians — but perhaps not exclusively them, as that last link to someone I […]

This definitely fits into the “Now I’ve Heard Everything!” category. Only, I’m sure that sooner or later, someone will come up with something that will spurt right past this one, too. “Okla. Judge’s Career Ended by Allegations”
