See? I’m Not So Bad!

September 30th, 2004 · No Comments

Well, it’s another one of those funky tests. This one, though, just asks you for the URL (web address) of your website and then analyzes it to determine how good or bad it is.

I’m Gunna Hit Your Sister!

September 30th, 2004 · No Comments

My father is a real clown sometimes. Those who know me well enough to see me clown around — and, frankly (sadly), there aren’t many of those folks around — know I get that straight from him. This often led to unexpected funny episodes, like the time we were all sitting at the dinner table […]

Nothing To Hide

September 30th, 2004 · 3 Comments

Lately I’ve been hearing a lot of people, including (particularly shocking to me) law students, say that we shouldn’t worry about losing a few constitutional freedoms if we have “nothing to hide.”

I wrote an article by that title, pondering what George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and other Founders had to hide — and explaining what’s wrong with the concept. The article extensively relies upon Montesquieu, Thomas Paine and the Federalist Papers.

If you’re interested in seeing it, just follow the link in this email!

Hanoi War Crimes Museum Honors Stupid Republicans

September 29th, 2004 · 3 Comments

Yesterday, I noted that Republicans are stupid. Among other things, I pointed out that half the rocks on the planet were more intelligent than Republicans. Some people may have been confused by that. I did not mean to say that one Republican was smarter than half the rocks, collectively. I meant that half of all […]

Faith and the Final Frontier

September 28th, 2004 · No Comments

The Republican Election Machine can really be applauded for its creation of not just voters, but faithful believers in the Republican message. And I mean that in the most religious of contexts. A Bush believer, in my opinion, is someone who doesn’t just follow the issues. They listen to their message as it’s delivered to […]

Relax, We’re Just Neutralizing You

September 28th, 2004 · No Comments

Jon Stewart has a show on Comedy Central — The Daily Show — that I guess is essentially political commentary. Although I’ve seen it a couple times, I don’t often watch it, so forgive my ignorance on that score. “Ignorant,” though, is essentially what Bill O’Reilly recently said the viewers of that show were. Actually, […]

Scared Sixless

Well, I think I’m going to go to bed and pull the covers over my eyes. I just checked blog stats and according to Sitemeter, I’ve had 666 visitors this week. Uh…isn’t that a bad number or somethin’?

The (Bush) Matrix

September 27th, 2004 · 2 Comments

We were watching The Matrix last night for about the third time. As I was watching, it suddenly struck me how the story of this digital world was a perfect analog for living in the current political milieu.

Just A Good Ol’ Boy

September 27th, 2004 · No Comments

Bob sent me a link to a story. We often exchange links (although he gets more time for the Internet than me and I’m quite jealous about it). I really wasn’t going to say anything about this story, but when I read this line, I literally laughed out loud. [F]or the record, his wife has […]

Strange…Jonathan Strange

September 26th, 2004 · No Comments

Well, I’m not really sure what to think of this. I mean, she gets to look like a normal human being in Europe, but in the United States, she has to have a more glamorous look? Heck, that sounds like the title for a nice fiction novel itself: “The U.S. Photo of Susanna Clarke.”
