I honestly did not know which category to stick this story in. Finally, I’ve decided it must go in the “Religion” category.
Apparently, Clovis — not Clovis, California, where I live, but Clovis, New Mexico — has decided to discourage drinking on the Christian Sabbath. Sunday liquor sales are banned.
Interestingly, the story focuses on the arrest of one Dean Young for placing stickers of topless devils on his car as a protest against the ban. So the ACLU has stepped in to argue the freedom of speech implications of the sticker ban.
The story makes no comment about the likely church-state issues surrounding the Sunday ban of liquor sales.
It’s a busy week here. I’m trying to get my mind wrapped around how to set up rhdefense.com, my future law-oriented website. Hopefully, I’ll be able to get that follow up article on “The New Fascism” completed this weekend.
Meanwhile, don’t touch that bottle!
