bin Forgotten

I was reading the ACT Blog and someone had posted a comment there stating that if Clinton had gotten bin Laden, we wouldn’t have the mess we have today.

I couldn’t resist posting a comment:

Someone above mentioned that “if Clinton had done the right thing” and “gotten bin Laden” we wouldn’t be in the mess we’re in today.

Wrong on several counts.

First, Bush has done no more to get bin Forgotten than Clinton did.  Bush nearly immediately shifted his attention to USING the 9/11 attacks to his own advantage, rather than to “get bin Forgotten.”

Second, Clinton DID go after bin Forgotten, when he was still remembered.  Only, as I recall, at that time Republicans insisted he was just doing the important work of the Presidency to distract from the Republican work of destroying the President.

Third, if Clinton had been successful at getting bin Forgotten when he was still remembered, this would not necessarily have prevented George Bush from turning the rest of the world against us.  Unless what you’re suggesting is that Clinton’s success with bin Forgotten when he was still remembered would have resulted in the actual election of a real President, like Gore, rather than the appointment by a five-vote majority on the Supreme Court?

Now that’s food for thought, even if I do say so myself.
