Makes you wonder about the possibility of a future civil war…
From the British newspaper, Guardian Unlimited, comes this story of Bush and Rove at the dedication of the Clinton library.
Two quotes from the story really tell it all. Do they set the stage for America’s future?
“You’re not such a scary guy,” joked his guide. “Yes, I am,” Rove replied. Walking away, he muttered deliberately and loudly: “I change constitutions, I put churches in schools …” Thus he identified himself as more than the ruthless campaign tactician; he was also the invisible hand of power, pervasive and expansive, designing to alter the fundamental American compact.
Perhaps he was joking. Perhaps.
Bush appeared distracted, and glanced repeatedly at his watch. When he stopped to gaze at the river, where secret service agents were stationed in boats, the guide said: “Usually, you might see some bass fishermen out there.” Bush replied: “A submarine could take this place out.”
If this is joking, it’s a perverse and odd sense of humor.
When you read the story, you have to think that it’s either a spoof, or that America really is in trouble.

You’ve just gotta love the naive innocence of the guy. Like when he told Pat Robertson (or was it Falwell? I can’t remember) that there wouldn’t be any US casualties in the Iraqi invasion. He’s a nice guy and all, our President is, but I think he thinks its all a video game or something. And he certainly isn’t qualified for the job.
