You’ve got to love Republican values. Especially when it comes to freedom of speech. The President’s party, of course, believes “there ought to be limits to freedom.”

And now, a New York candidate says that if Bruce Springsteen wants to voice his political beliefs, then he shouldn’t be allowed to earn a living.

In a statement, O’Grady said Springsteen “has a right to say what he thinks, but we have an equal right to speak. Now that he’s moved onto the political stage to bash my president, it is entirely fair to respond.”

The best part of this argument, of course, is its Orwellian irony: You have a right to speak your view, but if you do, we have a right to force you to (as Dick Cheney put it) “shut the f*ck up!”

Makes perfect sense to me. But why limit the damage to Brucie?
