It doesn’t really matter to me whether someone agrees with my political views or not, there’s one thing that seems to me ought to make sense to everyone: We, the people, have not just a right, but a responsibility to know how our country is being run. We have the right to know how much money we spend on this-or-that (forget wars, forget foreign aid, forget your favorite pet project—I’m just talking about “whatever” we spend money on). We have a right to know how many people our government arrests. We have a right to know what they plan to do with them. (Are we just going to keep them indefinitely? If so, why? It does cost money to feed, clothe and house them!)
So why is the Republican-controlled Senate so intent on making sure no one gets access to that information?
