Bob sent me a link to a story. We often exchange links (although he gets more time for the Internet than me and I’m quite jealous about it). I really wasn’t going to say anything about this story, but when I read this line, I literally laughed out loud.
[F]or the record, his wife has a Mercedes, but he says he won’t get in it. 60 Minutes, Bill O’Reilly: ‘No Spin’, CBS News Online, ¶ 60 (September 26, 2004).
The story is about Mike Wallace interviewing Bill O’Reilly on 60 minutes. Just before this comment, the story mentioned a part of the interview where Wallace challenged O’Reilly’s assertion that he’s just a regular guy from Long Island. One o’ them blue collar guys, you know. A regular guy with his sleeves rolled up and sweating his life away dragging $10 million to the bank every year. I mean, that money has got to be heavy. You’d think that O’Reilly would hire someone to do all that work of lugging around the cash, but, you know, he’s just a regular guy. As he said, “I’m not drivin’ a Mercedes Benz.”
Yeah, there’s no spin there alright.
