It Ain’t The Same

First, Dick Cheney is telling the people, that, as the New York Times reported, “the mere act of voting for your opponent opens the door to a terrorist attack.”

Then, there’s this: “Feel the Hate” found via lessig blog, which I read somewhat irregularly since I decided to focus on criminal defense, rather than technology law.

Man, I’m telling you, it just ain’t the same.

Lessig actually had his own convention memories with which to compare. All most of us have seen is the growing hate.

But what would I know? As the Republican quoted in Krugman’s article would say, “Rick Horowitz is just a Jew who figured out a way to survive the Holocaust [by being born after it ended].”

What scares me is that with talk like that — and America’s growing belief, if you listen to the Bush Adminstration’s increasingly strident talk, in the need for more war, more pre-emption, more going after others we perceive to be harmful even before they harm us — we may yet get a chance for a repeat.
