Perhaps the next Great Depression in America, which I wrote about earlier this morning, won’t be quite as bad as some people think.
Bob Marcotte points out a story in today’s Fresno Bee about undercover police officers attending student meetings at California State University, Fresno. The students were (understandably) upset about discovering there were two spies in their midst. But as David Moll, director of public safety at the university, points out:
I don’t understand what the problem is. There’s undercover police everywhere…. They could be at a school or a church or Big Hat Days [a yearly event in Clovis, California, where people where big hats]. — Diana Marcum, “Police presence at events debated” (April 6, 2005) The Fresno Bee.
That should make us all feel better. With that number of spies about, there should be plenty of jobs for everyone. After all, in Fresno/Clovis, there are churches on practically every street corner.
