Thanks to the combination of the MTAmazon plugin and Kalsey Consulting’s ProcessTags plugin, I’m now able to add links for Amazon.com purchases directly into my blog entries.
If you see something interesting, you can now purchase it by clicking the appropriate link.
Prior to this, I had to hand-code books into my posts whenever I wanted them. This was a bit involved as I had to first find the book, get all the information I wanted to link in, and then create a table to properly present all the information.
The method I’m using now was taken from Amazon Hacks by Paul Bausch (click the link at right to buy it now!) which lets me put the ASIN number into the keywords field when I create the entries in MovableType. Of course, this pretty much limits me to one book per post, but that’s fine; I don’t want to overuse it! (And I may figure out a way to go back to my three-column layout at the end of a post, such as appears in my post “Let’s Get This Straight” elsewhere in this blog.)

Hmmm…posting comments to my own posts! 😉
I should add that placing the ASIN in the keyword field isn’t the only way to do it. I did that in “Courage, Principles, and Republicanism” at http://www.winkola.com/archives/000067.html but for the current post I just put the ASIN number into the Search field instead of using the MTEntryKeywords tag.
