Delicious Jazz
October 24th, 2003 · 1 Comment
Tonight, I sit here with the clock headed towards midnight. Carole’s been singing the same 7 songs over and over for a couple hours. I don’t intend to let her stop any time soon. I don’t have to: “Delicious Jazz”, a truly delicious CD by Carole Marcotte & the Bob Marcotte Trio, is mine!

Blog Scum
October 23rd, 2003 · No Comments
Well, I got hit by my first blog spammer today. They’re scum. Coincidentally, the Senate today approved an anti-spam bill. The bill supposedly contains tough new limits. Unfortunately, the bill does not contain the necessary essential deterrent: Until the tide of spam stops, we need to continue to take spammers to court. Once a guilty […]

BLOG Lives!

Well, I’m pretty happy. My license plate finally arrived. No serious posting tonight, folks! I’m too giddy! Click Image to View Larger The reflection is a little much with the flash, but the close-up tells, in the words of Paul Harvey, “the rest of the story.” Now that is what I call a BlogRoll!

Philosophical Rambling
October 19th, 2003 · 1 Comment
This is a bit of a rambling post. I’m having trouble organizing my thoughts tonight and I’m feeling more like journaling than writing anything substantive. About the best I can offer is this: if this post starts to bore you, scroll past the autobiographical details down to the boxed content (e.g., if your browser functions […]

Amazon and the End of Blogs?
October 19th, 2003 · No Comments
Looks like Amazon has broken something that bloggers throughout the world have relied upon for ages. There’s much discussion about it on the various blogging boards. For my part, this is one reason I’m almost completely unable to blog. To get my blogs to post, I have to go through gyrations of commenting out Amazon-specific […]

A Thought-Provoking Practice

My wife is a paralegal student — a good one. Her grades are top-notch and she’s the Student Bar Association rep for the paralegals at her school. I’m a law student at the same school; I do okay. We both work, as well. I’m a full-time Director of Information Systems for a good-sized (statewide) company […]

A Laughable Engagement
October 16th, 2003 · No Comments
The Clovis Independent writes, We have argued. We have debated. We have been insulted at the mockery and disgusted by the allegations of impropriety, the childish verbal assaults, the all-too-obvious attempts to skirt direct answers to direct questions. But we, the people of this state, have become engaged. Yes, they’ve become “engaged” in a laughable […]

Here, Little Doggie!
October 13th, 2003 · No Comments
It’s been my impression for some time now that one of the major problems we have today is that the news is owned primarily by the Republicans. It is, after all, Big Business these days. (And see my previous post on Corporations.)
One of the reasons this is so bad is that they can not only “Wag the Dog” — they can swing the whole friggin’ puppy.

Not So Entertaining
October 13th, 2003 · No Comments
“Entertainment” corporations have been quite literally on the warpath for the last few years. After some recent successes against “the little people,” the pace is picking up. They’re now threatening or discussing suits against people for such things as talking, including telling people to “press the shift key.”
How did this come about?
