Rick, I saw your post title and just had to see what it was about. I took Unbearable Lightness as my modeling name because "The Unbearable Lightness of Being" is my favorite novel. Kundera actually argues that it is good to bear heavy burdens in our lives. He writes:

"But in the love poetry of every age, the woman longs to be weighed down by the man's body. The heaviest of burdens is therefore simultaneously an image of life's most intense fulfillment. The heavier the burden, the closer our lives come to the earth, the more real and truthful they become."

So share that with your friends. Perhaps it will cheer them up.

There seems to be so much heaviness for everyone everywhere this year. Let's hope for a lighter 2009 so our spirits can soar and we can become insignificant again.

Enjoyed your great post!
